I've been to many places, many times in Africa as it holds a very special place in my heart. The craft in Africa and preservation of culture has grown five-fold in recent years. In terms of education, Africa is a pillar of change in the global community. I look forward to building and sustaining products there. Africa amazes me.
My love for Haiti began through a friend who had family and friends affected by the devastating earthquake. I immediately fell in love with the Haitian people, the culture, what they do, what they stood for. I am inspired everyday to help ensure the safety of women and develop their empowerment. My commitment to helping Haiti continues through GiveLove.org, an organization founded by my dear friend Patricia Arquette. A percentage of my collection, TIME, will be given back to this foundation, and we are collaborating on creating an online resource for those seeking self- healing. Haiti is incredibly brave. I will do anything to help the sustainability of the Haitian people.
Tibet was the beginning of my spiritual journey. In Tibet I met His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and left with a family of 350 Tibetan people who are close to my heart. The work I did at the Norbulingka Institute continues to help preserve culture and craft. The film Hope was initiated from this project and the Urban Zen Foundation. Tibet is incredibly inspiring and a true gift.
